080120.jpgCurrently we're in a message series called "Understanding the Spiritual World." The Bible instructs us about a spiritual world that in many ways rules over the physical world that we can sense. What you see with your eyes is not the only reality there is. The invisible spiritual world is also very real and people ignore it to their own detriment. If the spiritual world is so important, how can we perceive it and communicate with the King of the spiritual world, God Himself?

Last Sunday, I talked about you can prepare to receive spiritual vision, how you can begin to see the plans that God has for your life. If you missed the message, you can listen to it on our church website. Today, my message is entitled "Hearing in the Spiritual World." I want to explore how you can better hear God speak to you. Now remember, that God and angels are not the only inhabitants of the spiritual world. The spiritual world is divided into two zones. The zone of God and the zone of Satan. Satan's zone is filled with various kinds of demonic spirits which can speak to you, just as God can. Just because you hear something from the spiritual world does not mean that it is coming from God. Everything you hear must be tested by the written Word of God to see if it is the truth before accepting it. However, as you seek to know God, He will help you learn to discern His voice.

What is the point of wanting to hear in the spiritual world? Why do you need to hear from God? The overarching reason to hear from God is to discover God's plan for your life. Last Sunday, we talking about seeing a vision of God's plan. Today, we are going to talk about hearing God speak of His plan for your life. Seeing and hearing are two very related aspects of spiritual communication. God longs to speak to you as His child. John 10:27 (NIV) My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. Have you learned to listen to God's voice? You can. It starts with diligently reading God's Word and prayer. Prayer was never intended by God to be one-way communication, a believer telling God his requests. Prayer was intended by God to be two-way communication, in which God responds to a believer who has learned to listen.

Today we're going to look at the life of one of the most important prophets in the Old Testament named Samuel. We're going to study how Samuel learned as a young boy to hear from God, so that you also can prepare to hear God speak to your life.
