080203.jpgToday is the final message in our series "Understanding the Spiritual World." In the past weeks, we've looked at how God wants to reveal to you His plans for your life. He's got good plans for every person in this room, plans to give you a future and a hope. In order to cooperate with God in living out those plans, you've got to begin to understand what those plans are all about. Last week, I talked about how you can begin to impact the spiritual world through prayer. I said that success in life, success in carrying out God's plan for your life, is dependent on your prayer life.

We laid out three spheres of prayer that as a church we will grow in this year. The first sphere was personal and family prayer. How many of you were able to complete the booklet on Fervent Prayer that we handed out last week. Great! If you didn't get to it, this week is not too late. If you missed last Sunday, there should be some extra copies out on the Information Table. The second sphere of prayer is in your Life Group. Our groups will be starting an informative new study in February entitled "When God's People Pray."  If you are not part of a Life Group and would like one of the study guides, please sign up on your Connect Card. The third sphere of prayer I talked about was church-wide prayer. We will be growing in church-wide prayer at monthly Vision Nights. Our first vision night was last week and we had a wonderful time together, looking at the vision God has for the Full Life family and praying together.

Today, my message is entitled "How To Change Your World." Prayer is the key to changing your world. However, not just any prayer will do. Faith is required for powerful and effective prayer. Matthew 21:22 (NIV) If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."  Circle the word "believe." Without faith, your prayers will be ineffective.

However, believing is not just something that happens in your mind. When you truly believe in God's plan for your life, you will not only pray, you will take action. James 2:17 (NIV) In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James is telling us that a living faith, a faith that is a world-changing faith, will guide our actions as well as our thoughts. It is faith with action that brings God's plans for your life into reality. It is believing prayer with action that will change your world.

The most famous chapter on faith in the Bible is Hebrews 11 which begins with this verse. Hebrews 11:1 (NIV) Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Faith is the substance of dreams. It is being sure of God's plans and being certain that what we have seen in the spiritual world will come into reality in the physical world. Today, we're going to look at an example from the life of Abraham which the author of Hebrews 11 uses to explain faith.  Abraham changed his world and you can learn from him how to change yours.
