Purpose is an incredibly important part of life. A foreman was on a building site and he asked some builders what they were doing. The first builder replied, "I'm breaking rocks." Another worker was asked the same question and he answered, "I'm earning for my family." The question was posed to a third worker and he responded, "I'm building a bank." The question was asked one final time and the last worker smiled and said, "I'm working for the Lord." All the answers were true but only the last worker really understood his purpose in life. Colossians 3:23 (NIV) Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, As you begin to understand God's purpose for your life more and more, you will be able to work for the Lord in all aspects of your life. When you carefully study the Bible, you come to the conclusion that God's purpose for our lives can be broken down into five separate purposes In order to have a healthy balanced life of serving God, you need to understand and put into practice these five purposes. These five purpose are - worship, fellowship, discipleship, service, outreach. Today, I'm going to talk about the purpose of worship. Worship is much more than just singing on Sunday morning. Worship is to be your highest priority in life, worship is about surrendering your life to God. You worship by giving God your love in all of life. Mark 12:30 (NIV) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Jesus tells us to love God in basically three ways. First, thoughtfully with your mind. Secondly, passionately with all your heart and all your soul. Thirdly, practically with all your strength and your abilities. God loved you and gave you your mind, your emotions, and your abilities. Now He wants you to worship Him, to love Him back with all that you are. Today I've entitled the message "Surrendering Your Life." We're going to be talking about the purpose of worship. Worship is loving God by surrendering our lives to God. So let's look in a little more detail at how to worship God. Message Audio |

Today we begin a new message series called "Living With
Purpose." Living with purpose can be illustrated with the dart board on the
screen. God's purpose for your life, the purpose you were created for, is
represented by the bull's eye in the center of the board. Your life is like the
dart. You are launched at birth and when your life is over, God will judge
whether you've hit the mark of His purpose. In the Greek language, the word for
sin, hamartia, means "missing the mark." So, fulfilling God's purpose is hitting
the bull's eye. Missing the mark is sin. God wants each of you to hit the bull's
eye with your life.
