Today, my message is entitled "The Greatest Decision" The Bible teaches us that our choices and decisions in life have consequences. Life is not just blind fate with our destinies predetermined. Each person has a free will, they have the ability to make decisions. Some decisions are good decisions and some decisions that people make are bad decisions. What are some of the biggest decisions that people make in life? One big decision is what kind of career or job are you going to work at? That is an important decision, even though most people change jobs and careers multiple times in life these days. Even so, one thing leads to another, so making good decisions in work is important. A bigger decision is who you are to marry. That's a bigger decision than a career. When you choose a marriage partner, the Bible says that you are to remain with them for life. Now of course, people are challenging what the Bible says and trying to change spouses like jobs. Unfortunately, it doesn't work out well for them. Divorce creates all kinds of heartache, financial problems and difficulties with children. Better be sure that you marry the right person the first time around and stick with them. The greatest decision is life has to do with your relationship with God. What you decide regarding a relationship with God influences every aspect of your life. What you decide regarding God influences your eternity forever. Once you leave this life, once you die, your decision regarding God is permanent, forever. That's why it's life's greatest decision. That's why it's important not just to you, but to every person you know. That's why, each of us who has made the decision must live to help others make the right decision as well. John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him ... That phrase "whoever believes in him" has a subject, a verb and an object. Let's unpack this greatest decision phrase with three questions. Message Audio |

Currently, we're in a message series called "God So Loved." We're looking at the most famous verse in the Bible, John 3:16. It's the greatest promise in the Bible. John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Just 26 words, but it carries an enormous impact. John 3:16 tells us what God did first of all. God loved the people that He created, people that had gotten their lives into a mess through sin. God loved so much that He sent Jesus to this earth, to live a perfect life among us, die on the cross for our sins and rise from the dead. As wonderful as all that is, the benefit will not be realized by everyone. For John 3:16 contains within it a conditional promise. The benefit of John 3:16 will only be realized by those who fulfill the condition of the promise, by those who make a particular decision.
