The resurrection has to do with life conquering death. Revelation 1:5 (CEV) Jesus was the first to conquer death, and he is the ruler of all earthly kings. By rising from the dead, Jesus proved that He was Lord of all. There's nothing that is too hard for Jesus to handle. He rules over all. When Jesus conquered death, he rose into eternal life, never to die again. He was the first to conquer death, but He won't be the last. All those who have resurrection life will also conquer death. So what does the resurrection of Jesus Christ have to do with you and me? Isaiah 59:10 (NIV) Like the blind we grope along the wall, feeling our way like men without eyes. At midday we stumble as if it were twilight; among the strong, we are like the dead. People without God in their lives are like dead men walking. They might think they know what they're doing, but in reality they're like the blind groping their way through life. Maybe that's how you feel this morning. If so, I'm going to talk about how Jesus' resurrection can bring you hope. Maybe this morning you have God in your life, but you're still struggling through life. Rather than being an overcomer, you feel like you're being overcome in the circumstances of life. Let me say to you that the resurrection power of God is available to every believer to live a new life. This Easter, God wants to give every person here a fresh start in life. That fresh start in life can only happen through the power that raised Christ from the dead, the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:11 (NIV) And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. I want more of that resurrection life in my life. If the power of the Spirit was strong enough to raise Jesus from the dead, then it is more than adequate to make you an overcomer in life as well. Happy Easter to everyone! We're so glad that you've chosen to celebrate Easter with us today. Easter is a wonderful time of year. Winter is over and spring is here. The cold, dead winter gives way to the warmth of the new life of spring. The change of seasons is an illustration of the real meaning of Easter. The stone-cold body of Jesus Christ lay rigid in a tomb when the power of God explosively raised him to life. The resurrection of Jesus stunned his closest disciples and still shocks the world today.
